Artist's Profile

Painting in the tradition of the Boston School, Laura Roberts has been most influenced by studying oil painting with Copley Master Robert Scott Jackson.
Travels to New Brunswick, Martha’s Vineyard, Maine and Italy have sharpened her largely representational style. Ms. Roberts loves working with moody settings that evoke the senses. Strong lights, shadows and vivid colors are characteristic of her landscapes, still lifes and portraits.
She began her career by studying drawing at an early age and later began her formal training in art with renowned artist Ron Kullaway. She has also studied with prominent artists Kevin Shea, Gary Korlin, Charles Sovek and Beverly Mitchell. Ms. Roberts has helped to inspire young artists by teaching at the elementary school level.

She has been an active member of the Newburyport Art Association and is regularly juried into their regional shows.
